Movie Review: 7AM Arivu

Okay, first off this is pronounced as yeull-AHM Ah-ree-veuh. Not SEVEN A.M.Arivu. Yours Sincerely made the same mistake and earned a few guffaws and giggle from her family and friends. 7AM Arivu means Seventh Sense in Tamil.

Surya as Bodhidharma.

It started with showing BhodiDharma(actor Surya) as the son of a great Tamil king of Pallava Dynasty who excels in Martial Arts and the field of Medicines.

He was sent to China to cure a disease called Hong Se that had taken millions of lives in China solely to prevent it from spreading to India.

The locals were demeaning to him but when the prince proved his worth by curing a little girl who had the disease, they eventually warmed up to him and held him in high regard.

After fulfilling his mission, he was to return to home in India but the locals wouldn't let him go and killed him.

Actor Surya.

Centuries later in modern times, a young circus artist Arvind(also played by Surya) was seen performing various art.
He fell in love with a genetic engineering student who had ulterior motives in reciprocating his love.

Actress Shruti Hassan.

A young and gifted genetic engineering student(Shruti Hassan) managed to track down BhodiDharma's lineage and track down Arvind who is believed to have the closest DNA match to the monk himself.

Actor Johnny Tri Ngu-Yen.

Meanwhile in China, the government hired a talented and deadly Shaolin monk(played by Johnny Tri Ngu-Yen) whose sole purpose was to kill Subha(Shruti Hassan) who was working on relieving this medicine on present day Tamillians because China is planning to send a virus in a sly ploy that India would seek assistance from China once the virus becomes fatal. With Subha(Shruti Hassan) trying relieve BhodiDharma's talent in medicine, this would backfire China's plan.

My Verdict: 9/10 - a bold, daring and truthful approach in addressing present day decline/regression in Tamil society.

This movie highlights on the lost heritage of our great India, once called Maha Bharath - literally means Great India.

We were conquered and abused by so many other countries who implemented their values and lifestyle on us that along the way: we Indians forgot who we were, the once great civilization who were the founders of modern medicine, astronomy and so much more that inspired other cultures to extend our knowledge.

Did You Know? The Shaolin martial arts originated from India brought to China by BodhiDharma himself?
Did You Know? The Indian civilization was 500 years more advanced in astronomy than any other civilization?
Did You Know? We invented the piping system, you know - the mechanism with which you take your bath and release your bodily functions?
Did You Know? We are the first religion in the world?

So many facts about us are erased throughout history by irresponsible parties - like that recent incident in Sri Lanka where some bastard burned down a library containing rare books about my culture, invasion by the Moghuls, Mongols, Arabs and British as the more recent one.

There are a lot of books written on Indian civilization, the internet is a great source for more detailed information should the books be hard to find.
