Laptop Earphones Not Working? TRY THIS!

They ain't mine. Picture is from Google images for illustration purposes.

Be forewarned though, this was my specific problem with wonky laptop earphones jack and if your problem is similar to mine, HOORAY! But even if it isn't, this method can always be an alternative.

Model: ACER Aspire 4752Z
Age: Barely a day old(purchased March 17th 2012)

My problem was this:

Upon insertion of the laptop earphones into the jack, the movie I had been watching had fuzzy audio. The characters who spoke had sometimes high voice and sometimes low, sometimes it even sounds like mumbles. The background music was LOUD as anything but the dialogue was like someone was chanting Latin verses for demonic exorcism.

Therefore after tampering the whole lappie functions whole day, I have finally found out what was it that was tampering my audio in media players.

The bloody built in microphone was ON!

What I did was:

> Control Panel
> Sound and Hardware
> Sound
> A small window will pop up and you will see series of tabs(Playback, recording, sounds...namely)
> If you click on Playback, you should see Speakers Realtek HD Audio
> Click on it and there will be another new window with the title Speaker Properties.
> Go to Levels
> You will see Realtek HD Audio Output and right below it should be the pesky Microphone.
> MUTE the bloody microphone to zero. Open up 'Balance' and adjust them to ZERO as well.

There should be some noticeable improvement.

Did I help? Please comment so I can know how effective the method was. =P

You can also try this:

At the same Control Panel > Sounds and Hardware you should see something that says Realtek HD Audio Manager :

If the main volume is balanced between L(left) and R(right), simply toggle them to either the extreme left or right. Either way should improve the fuzziness/muffle-ness.

That should have cleared up your wonky/fuzzy/muffly audio. Did I help? @v@

Thanks for reading!

I actually have another problem with this newborn China brand lappie but this was the only thing I manage to fix so far. If it matters my left direction key doesn't work. At all. We'll see how that goes. I tried all online solutions but it looks like I'm gonna have to bring it to the shop. Sigh, my wallet shall be empty again for the umpteenth time. T^T

Review ~ The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza

I'd give this 3.5 stars. It's his first book so there's that.  The plot ran smoothly with realistic dynamics between character...
